Job Purpose Statement
The Clinical Content Pharmacist is responsible for the research, development, updating, review and quality assurance of clinical content across the EMGuidance platform, with a primary focus on supporting EMGuidance's clinical content backlog and broader content-boosting projects.
This is a highly hands-on, project-based role. The pharmacist may be required to work across a broad spectrum of clinical content projects depending on business priorities and project requirements. This may include medicine information and monographs, clinical guidelines, clinical news, courses, medicine tools, additional clinical content, content tagging and other clinical modules.
The role requires a pharmacist who can work efficiently and accurately across a high volume of content while maintaining a very high level of attention to detail. The successful candidate must be able to research, interpret, write, review, update and quality assure clinical information, ensuring that Healthcare Professionals have access to current, accurate, concise and clinically relevant information.
The Clinical Content Pharmacist will also contribute to the ongoing improvement of EMGuidance's content and technology by testing AI tools and AI-assisted clinical content workflows, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency while ensuring that clinical accuracy, safety and human oversight remain paramount.
The role requires close collaboration with the Clinical Content team, clinical pharmacologists, peer reviewers, specialists, content partners and broader business teams.
Key Job Outputs
1. Clinical Content Development & Backlog Delivery
Work across the clinical content backlog and assigned content-boosting projects, including but not limited to:
- Developing and updating medicine monographs and medicine information.
- Reviewing and updating clinical guidelines.
- Digitising clinical guidelines to optimise the digital experience.
- Developing and updating clinical news and other educational content.
- Reviewing and contributing to courses and learning content.
- Developing additional clinical content to strengthen the EMGuidance knowledge base.
- Supporting medicine tools and clinical decision-support content.
- Reviewing and tagging content to improve search and discoverability.
- Identifying content gaps and opportunities to improve the overall database.
- Delivering agreed content volumes and project milestones within defined timelines.
The pharmacist may be moved between content streams according to project priorities and business requirements.
2. Medicine Information
- Develop new medicine monographs.
- Review and update existing medicine monographs.
- Research medicine information using approved clinical sources.
- Ensure medicine information is accurate, current, concise and unambiguous.
- Identify outdated, incomplete or inconsistent information.
- Review information relating to new medicines launched in the market.
- Develop medicine summaries and supporting content as required.
- Ensure medicine content meets EMGuidance clinical and editorial standards.
3. Guidelines & Clinical Content
- Digitise clinical guidelines for the EMGuidance platform.
- Review guideline content for clinical accuracy and completeness.
- Check medicine-related information within guidelines and identify potential errors or inconsistencies.
- Update existing guidelines and supporting content.
- Contribute to the development of additional clinical content and modules.
- Review and tag clinical content to improve search results and user experience.
4. Courses & Educational Content
- Review existing courses and learning content for clinical accuracy.
- Identify gaps, outdated information or clinical inconsistencies.
- Provide clinical input into new and existing educational content.
- Support the addition of relevant clinical and medicine information to courses.
- Ensure clinical content aligns with approved sources and EMGuidance standards.
5. Clinical Tools, AI & Digital Innovation
- Provide clinical input into medicine-related tools and clinical decision-support functionality.
- Develop and review clinical logic for tools such as dosing and medicine motivation assistance.
- Test clinical functionality and assess outputs for accuracy and appropriateness.
- Test AI tools and AI-assisted workflows being considered for clinical content development, research, review and quality assurance.
- Assess AI-generated clinical outputs critically and identify errors, gaps, hallucinations or inappropriate recommendations.
- Provide feedback to the Clinical Content and Product teams on the usefulness, accuracy and potential application of AI tools.
- Identify opportunities where technology and AI can improve the efficiency of clinical content production without compromising quality or safety.
6. Quality Assurance
Quality and attention to detail are critical to this role.
- Perform QA checks on new and updated clinical content before publication.
- Review medicine monographs, guidelines, courses, news and other clinical content for accuracy, consistency and completeness.
- Check references and source information where required.
- Identify clinical errors, inconsistencies, omissions or outdated information.
- Ensure content complies with EMGuidance clinical policies, processes and standards.
- Escalate high-risk or complex clinical issues appropriately.
- Maintain a high standard of accuracy across all published content.
The successful candidate must have exceptional attention to detail and be able to identify small but clinically important errors.
7. Peer Reviewers & Specialist Network
- Liaise with peer reviewers and subject matter experts to support clinical content review.
- Coordinate content queries and feedback with specialists and clinical pharmacologists.
- Liaise with professional societies, institutions and other content partners where required.
- Incorporate appropriate specialist feedback into content.
- Identify when specialist input is required and escalate appropriately.
- Maintain professional and effective relationships with the broader clinical network.
8. Clinical Research & News
- Research relevant medicine, clinical and healthcare developments.
- Identify and summarise relevant journal articles, medicine safety alerts, regulatory information and other clinical updates.
- Contribute relevant content to the EMGuidance newsfeed.
- Research clinical trends and emerging topics.
- Provide recommendations on relevant content opportunities.
9. Cross-functional Clinical Support
Provide clinical input to the broader business, including:
- Product and Technology: clinical requirements, logic, tools and functionality.
- Marketing: clinical input into social media, campaigns and healthcare communications.
- Commercial: clinical input to sales opportunities, renewals and customer discussions.
- Operations: responses to clinical and medicine-related queries.
- Academy: clinical input into courses and learning content.
- Content: identification of gaps and opportunities to improve the clinical knowledge base.
10. Project Management & Delivery
This is a six-month project-based role with defined delivery objectives.
The pharmacist will:
- Work against an agreed clinical content backlog and project plan.
- Prioritise work according to project requirements.
- Manage multiple content streams where required.
- Meet agreed production and QA targets.
- Maintain accurate records of completed and outstanding work.
- Identify barriers to delivery early and communicate them.
- Work efficiently while maintaining clinical quality.
- Support the broader team in achieving overall project objectives.
While individual deliverables may be assigned, the Clinical Content team remains collectively accountable for achieving the overall project outcomes.

Qualifications
Essential
- BPharm Degree.
- Registered Pharmacist with the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Current practising status with SAPC.

Core Role Expectation
This is a hands-on, six-month clinical content project role.
The successful pharmacist will not be restricted to one type of content. They may move between medicine information, guidelines, courses, clinical news, additional content, medicine tools, QA, peer review and other clinical content projects depending on the needs of the business.
They need to be able to work at pace, maintain exceptional attention to detail and adapt quickly to changing project priorities.
Most importantly, they need to understand that the objective is not simply to complete individual tasks. The team is working towards a defined content backlog and broader content-boosting objectives, and every pharmacist is accountable for helping the team get there.
The goal: increase the depth, quality and usefulness of EMGuidance's clinical content, while delivering accurately and efficiently within the six-month project period.
