Cancel, amend and schedule script flows
From the patient's script history, a prescriber can Repeat, Cancel, or Amend sent scripts (cancelling the original). Use re-send to resend the original notification. The Script Scheduler lets you sign now, send later (up to 30 days). Recurring S6 scripts are automatically sent every 28 days, with options to cancel all or cancel future scripts individually.
- Under a patient’s script history all scripts will be viewable by the prescriber who scripted them (signed, drafted, cancelled). Drafted scripts will not be viewable by prescribers who did not script them.
- On a script that has been signed and sent there will be the options to repeat, amend or cancel the script.
- By pressing “repeat”, the list of medicines will populate as they were scripted and a new script can be signed and sent to the patient.
- Pressing “cancel script” will cancel the script already sent. This means that the pharmacy will not be able to access the valid script via the pharmacy portal and the patient will not be able to send the script. This function should only be used if all parties are aware that the script will be cancelled.
- Pressing “amend script” will cancel the script already sent (same impact as above), however it will then populate the list of medicines as they were scripted. Edits can be made and the script can be signed and sent to the patient. A new script code will be sent to the patient. This function
- should only be used if all parties are aware that the initial script is being cancelled and a new script issued.
- In order to resend the script (i.e resend the sms/email with the same script code, not resign a new script), the heading of the prescriber at the top of the script on the script history can be pressed and the script preview will open up. There will be an option to re-send.
- Script scheduler - when signing a script the prescriber has the option to sign and schedule the send. This means that the script will be signed but the patient will only receive the sms/email at the stipulated future time. The signing date displayed on the script will be the actual date it was signed. The scheduled calendar allows for sending of scripts up to 1 month after signing. This aligns to Regulation 6 (d) of the Medicines and Related Substances Act which states that “if a prescription is not presented for dispensing within 30 days of issue it shall not be dispensed”
-
- The script can only have S6 medicines on it
- The interval between scripts is set at 28 days
- Prescribers will get a reminder the day before each script is sent. This will be sent to the practice email address, or EMGuidance account email address if no practice email address specified.
- The options to cancel scripts created using this flow differs from the standard script options. There is a button to cancel all scripts (initial and recurring) and there is a button which pulls up all future recurring scripts and allows cancellation of individual scripts.
- The “repeat” button will only show once all recurring scripts have been sent to avoid confusion and erroneous duplicate script creation.
- Technically all PDFs are signed on the date the initial script is signed and that is the date that will be displayed on the initial script. However for the recurrent scripts, the date signed will reflect as the sent date on the script. Therefore there will be a mismatch between the AES encryption date in the signature panel of the PDF and the date displayed on the PDF.
- The pharmacy view screen of the recurrent scripts will also reflect the sending date as the signing date.Schedule 6 recurring scripts - this feature allows prescribers to sign and schedule recurring scripts for schedule 6 medicines. As schedule 6 scripts cannot be repeated, this is an admin feature to help doctors prepare and scripts in advance for stable patients. The patients will only receive the recurring scripts at 28 day intervals.
